Wu Wei Si

Perched in the pine forests of Cangshan, Wu Wei Si ( Wu Wei Temple) is only a few kilometers north of Dali Ancient City. At an elevation of 7700ft (2500m) early morning chanting and the fresh mountain air begin each days Shaolin gongfu ( kung fu ) training. The temple has an ancient history of occupants including Zhang San Feng (coined the term tai ji quan(; famous for its incredible ability to cultivate orchids. Invisible from the road below, Wu Wei Temple is the perfect cultural emersion experience. Practice consists of an early morning run followed by stretching, ji ben gong (gongfu/kungfu basics, including kicks, flips, and basic movements), and form work (a few forms you may learn are shao lian hua quan, staff, tai ji quan, qi gong, sword, eagle and other animal based forms). Lodging in the temple and 3 meals a day are included in the program. If you enjoy hiking, their are endless trails climbing Mt. Cang.

Program Duration

You can choose how long you wish to study. If your time is limited a week or two study intensive is all you need to immerse yourself in a genuine Shao Lin experience.
